The details of the first draw for the Express Entry-linked stream of the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program in 2022 have been made public by the province of Alberta (AINP). With the lowest Comprehensive Ranking System score of 327—24 points below the previous draw—the January 5 draw attracted 250 applicants.
Applicants for the Alberta Express Entry stream should have declared their willingness to live permanently in Alberta and be employed in a profession that advances the province’s diversity and economic growth.
The federal government of Alberta received more nominations than its allotted 6,250 invitations in 2021. The unknown is the allotment for 2022. Furthermore, the province has 775 expressions of interest in the Alberta Express Entry pool and 450 submissions in the Alberta Opportunity Channel.
Alberta reports that many AINP applications have been filed in the following fields, indicating a lengthier processing time:
- NOC 6311 – Food service supervisors
- NOC 6211 – Retail sales supervisors
- NOC 6322 – Cooks
- NOC 0211 – Engineering managers
- NOC 3211 – Medical laboratory technologists
- NOC 1241 – Administrative assistants
- NOC 7511 – Transport truck drivers
- NOC 1123 – Professional occupations in advertising, marketing, and public relations
- NOC 2131 – Civil engineers
- NOC 1221 – Administrative officers
Conditions for Express Entry in Alberta
For consideration as a candidate for notification of interest, candidates must fulfill the following requirements:
- possess an active Express Entry profile in the federal Express Entry pool
- have said they want to stay in Alberta forever
- Work in a profession that advances Alberta’s diversity and economic growth
- 300 points minimum in the Comprehensive Ranking System is necessary.
The following elements could improve a candidate’s chances of receiving an expression of interest:
- a job offer from an Albertan company and/or previous employment in Alberta
- having finished a program of higher education in Canada
- having a parent, child, or sibling living in Alberta
A candidate’s chances of receiving an expression of interest are affected by a number of factors, such as:
- After three months, the Express Entry profile will expire.
- You work in an occupation that is not permitted.
