The past week has been hectic for the Albertan province. Alongside 2 additional avenues for rural and entrepreneur immigration, the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program now goes by a new moniker.
The province of Alberta is going to be known as Alberta Advantage Immigration Program, according to a statement made by Alberta Premier Jason Kenney on February 16th (AAIP). The announcement also highlighted the launch of two fresh immigration initiatives. The province then revealed the outcomes of the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw from earlier this month.
400 Express Entry applicants were encouraged to submit applications under the Alberta Express Entry program on February 1st. Applicants in this category needed the lowest CRS score of at least 340 points in order to be taken into consideration for a provincial nomination.
Applicants that are successful in receiving an Alberta provincial nomination are given 600 points in their final results.
Two new immigration streams—the Rural Renewal Stream and the Rural Entrepreneur Stream—will be available under the updated Alberta Advantage Immigrant Program.
Three current entrepreneur streams have undergone changes:
Foreign Graduate Start-Up will now be the name of the International Graduate Entrepreneur Immigration Stream. Foreign Graduate Entrepreneur Stream and Self-Employed Farmer Stream will henceforth be the Visa Stream and Farm Stream, respectively.
NOTE: The requirements and eligibility requirements for these current streams remain the same.
Candidates must now apply for a nomination extension if they filed their applications to the province of Alberta online. Other post-decision procedures are all the same.
The website for Alberta will be modified in the coming weeks to reflect these modifications as well as the functionality of the new programs.
Reasons for these changes:
The goal of immigration stakeholders in Alberta is to enhance newcomer success and promote economic growth in the province through the implementation of new programs and improvements. The “City of Champions” will also endeavor to promote Alberta’s standing and advantages as a desirable location for career and family life.
The Rural Renewal Stream and the Rural Entrepreneur Stream, two new streams, are intended to attract highly skilled individuals and entrepreneurs from all over the world to work, reside, and settle in rural areas in Alberta.
The Rural Entrepreneur Stream is for entrepreneurs who would like to build or purchase an established company in a rural Alberta community, while the Rural Renewal Stream is for those who have an offer of employment from an Alberta employer to work in a specified rural community of Alberta.
