In order to see how Express Entry candidates are chosen in the first quarter of 2023, Canada is ready and preparing a BIG CHANGE.
New rules for conducting Express Entry draws will be put in place by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) beginning in January 2023. The new regulations state that as opposed to their aggregate CRS ratings, individuals will now be invited based on a number of particular qualities.
The passage of Bill C-19 by both houses of parliament on June 23 allowed for the anticipated improvements to Express Entry in 2023.
In a June 2017 interview, Canada’s Minister of Immigration, Sean Fraser, said: “The impending reforms to the Express Entry would help pick people who are already headed for economic success.”
“Express Entry already gives Canada a competitive edge, but there is space for development,” he continued. “Where the Express Entry system could use improvement is right now, if your economy is now facing any unique problems that it might face in the future. We are unable to modify the invites to apply through the Express Entry system to take into account such in-demand credentials or skills.”
In 2023, who will be granted access to Express Entry draws?
The day that applicants for the future Express Entry drawings in 2023 would get Invitations to Apply (ITA) has not yet been determined. The Immigration Minister will make this choice after talking with the provinces, business groups, and other stakeholders to determine which applicants to consider.
To ensure that applicants can more easily integrate into Canada’s labour force, the change aims to make it simpler to audit a candidate’s academic background and professional experience.
The Immigration Minister will be able to choose candidates based on where they rank within the grouping under the proposed modifications. Groupings will be made under this new method based on the economic objectives and labour shortages that the immigration minister will be working to achieve at the moment.
For instance, Canada’s healthcare industry is one of the areas that have a severe labour shortage. The sector’s unemployment rate was 6% as of October 2022.
The Canadian government has been taking stringent action to address the shortages in this industry in order to combat the same, including the newly announced $90 million effort to enhance Foreign Credential Recognition.
These precautions apply to all in-demand professions in Canada in 2023, not simply those in the healthcare industry, such as:
- Payroll Administrators
- Elementary and Secondary School Teacher Assistants
- Transport Truck Drivers
- Marketing Executives
- Lawyers, and many more!
When will there be another Express Entry draw?
All applicants in the pool awaited the Express Entry lottery on January 4 with great anticipation. Once more, the IRCC did not perform a draw.
Are there still issues with the IRCC? Will a drawing take place in January?
