Category-based selection draws, introduced in May 2023, help IRCC target candidates with in-demand skills. Six categories persist throughout 2024, including healthcare, STEM professions, trades, transport, agriculture, and French proficiency. Candidates must have an existing application in the Express Entry pool for consideration.
Express Entry manages Canada’s top economic immigration programs, assessing applicants based on factors like work experience, language ability, and education. High-scoring candidates receive invitations to apply for permanent residency, with 80% of applications processed within six months, per IRCC’s service standard.
