Express Entry, managing programs like the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and Canadian Experience Class (CEC), employs the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to evaluate candidates based on attributes like work experience, age, language ability, and education.
CEC candidates in their twenties, working as software engineers, particularly in Ontario, are the most likely recipients. In the first nine months of 2023, 45% of ITAs went to CEC candidates, 30% to FSWP candidates, and 26% to PNP candidates. No ITAs were issued to FSTP candidates.
Top occupations, such as software engineers, remain consistent across programs. In terms of CRS scores, about half of all candidates had scores between 451-500, and over 7,750 candidates scored between 901-1,000, with some exceeding 1,000.
Ontario dominated with more than half of all candidates, followed by British Columbia and Alberta. Most recipients were in the 19-29 age range, aligning with CRS score advantages for younger candidates.
The total ITAs in 2023 surpass 2022 but fall short of 2021 levels due to pandemic-related adjustments. IRCC aims for increased admissions through Express Entry programs in the coming years.
