Canada Invites 150 Transport Workers for Permanent Residence

Canada has issued another round of permanent residence invitations through Express Entry, targeting candidates in the Transport category. On October 28, 2026, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 150 Invitations to Apply (ITAs), with the minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score set at 477.

The latest selection marks Canada’s second draw under the revised Transport category in 2026. Although the number of invitations was smaller than in the previous round, the draw offers another opportunity for eligible transport professionals to pursue Canadian permanent residence.

Transport Category Draw – October 28

In the October 28 Express Entry draw, IRCC selected 150 candidates who met the requirements for the Transport category.

Candidates needed to meet both of the following conditions:

  • A minimum CRS score of 477.
  • An Express Entry profile submitted before 9:48:22 p.m. UTC on June 4, 2026.

The tie-breaking rule determines the order of selection among candidates who share the cut-off score. Candidates who submitted their profiles before the specified time receive priority over otherwise eligible candidates with the same CRS score who submitted theirs later.

This draw marks:

  • The 65th Express Entry draw of 2026.
  • The second selection under the revised Transport category.
  • A seven-point increase in the CRS cut-off compared with the first Transport draw on August 7, when 300 candidates were invited at CRS 470.

Upcoming CRS Changes: What Candidates Need to Know

A significant change to Canada’s Express Entry system is scheduled to take effect on November 3, 2026. Under the revised system described in the announcement, eligible candidates may receive additional points through a new Labour Market Integration Factor (LMIF), linked to Canadian work experience and qualifying high-wage job offers.

The proposed changes include:

  • Additional points for Canadian work experience: Eligible candidates may receive up to 150 points under the LMIF, or up to 140 points if applying with an accompanying spouse or common-law partner.
  • Points for high-wage job offers: Qualifying offers may receive 50, 70 or 100 points, depending on the occupation’s wage level.
  • High-wage occupation criteria: The policy identifies 186 occupations meeting the stated wage threshold, based on national median wages.
  • Changes to LMIA requirements: Eligible job offers would no longer require an LMIA to qualify for these points, subject to the applicable rules.

The proposed LMIF would compare the available scores and award the greater applicable amount. Canadian work experience points would account for employment duration, with additional points available for qualifying experience in high-wage occupations.

The announcement also describes a temporary public policy concerning LMIA exemptions for certain job offers used to meet eligibility requirements under the Federal Skilled Worker Program and Federal Skilled Trades Program.

IRCC has indicated that Express Entry invitation rounds may be paused temporarily while candidate scores are recalculated, potentially for up to two weeks. Candidates should monitor official announcements for confirmation of implementation details and any changes to draw schedules.

Conclusion

The October 28 selection reinforces the importance of checking category-specific eligibility when planning a Canadian permanent residence application. Transport professionals who meet the relevant occupational and Express Entry requirements may benefit from targeted invitation rounds, although future cut-off scores and invitation numbers can change.

Candidates should ensure their Express Entry profiles accurately reflect their work experience, education, language results, and other eligibility factors. Those already in Canada who have submitted an eligible permanent residence application may also qualify for a Bridging Open Work Permit, depending on their circumstances.

With 150 invitations issued at CRS 477, the latest draw adds another opportunity for eligible transport professionals seeking Canada PR. Candidates should also prepare for the upcoming CRS changes and verify the final rules before making decisions based on the revised points system.
