Prince Edward Island has once again opened doors for skilled foreign workers and international graduates through its Provincial Nominee Program, issuing 114 new invitations during its latest immigration draw held on May 21, 2026.
The province continues to use targeted immigration selections to support industries experiencing labour shortages while also encouraging international graduates educated within PEI to remain in the province long term.
This latest round represents the fifth immigration draw conducted by the province this year and reflects PEI’s ongoing commitment to attracting workers who can contribute to local economic growth.

Workers in Key Industries Receive Priority
The recent invitations were distributed through two immigration pathways managed under the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program:
- PEI Express Entry
- Labour Impact category
Provincial immigration authorities focused primarily on candidates already employed in Prince Edward Island, particularly those working in occupations considered essential to the province’s economy.
Rather than conducting broad-based selections, PEI has continued targeting applicants connected to industries facing persistent hiring challenges. The province has maintained a similar selection strategy throughout all invitation rounds held in 2026.
Graduates from local educational institutions also remained an important part of the province’s immigration strategy. Candidates who completed studies at the following institutions were among those prioritized:

- Holland College
- Collège de l’Île
By emphasizing local graduates, PEI aims to strengthen workforce retention and reduce the loss of internationally trained talent to larger Canadian provinces.

Unlike other provinces, Prince Edward Island publishes a projected immigration draw calendar ahead of time, allowing candidates to better prepare for upcoming selections.
So far this year, the province has largely stayed aligned with its announced draw schedule. Only one draw in March occurred a day later than expected.

With the latest round complete, PEI has now invited a total of 477 immigration candidates this year through its Labour and Express Entry streams.

How Candidates Can Qualify for PEI Immigration
Individuals interested in obtaining a provincial nomination from Prince Edward Island must first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile through the province’s online immigration system.
Once profiles are submitted, provincial officials assess candidates using a points-based approach designed to identify applicants who are most likely to succeed economically in PEI.

Faster Application Timelines for Invited Candidates
Candidates selected through the PEI PNP now have 30 days to submit a complete application after receiving an invitation.
The province reduced the previous submission period of 60 days in an effort to accelerate processing and improve application efficiency.
After obtaining a provincial nomination, candidates can then apply to the federal government for Canadian permanent residence.
