Prince Edward Island has continued its 2026 immigration campaign by inviting 181 foreign workers to pursue provincial nomination through its latest selection round.
The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) conducted the draw on August 20, 2026, focusing on candidates already working in the province whose occupations and industries align with current labour market priorities.
The latest round brings the province’s total number of invitations issued this year to 1,034, strengthening opportunities for workers seeking a pathway to Canadian permanent residence through a provincial nomination.

PEI Targets Workers in High-Demand Areas
The August selection was designed around Prince Edward Island’s current workforce requirements. Candidates needed to demonstrate employment in a sector or occupation identified by the province as a priority.

August Draw Continues a Consistent 2026 Pattern
The latest invitation round was the eighth selection conducted by PEI so far this year. The province has maintained a relatively predictable monthly schedule while continuing to focus on workers who can help address local labour shortages.

The August result was slightly below the previous two rounds, which issued 195 invitations in July and 182 in June. Nevertheless, the province has already crossed the 1,000-invitation mark for the year.
Invitations Issued Through Two Immigration Categories
The latest candidates were selected through the Labour Impact and PEI Express Entry categories.
The Labour Impact category covers three pathways:
- Skilled Worker
- Critical Worker
- International Graduate
PEI does not normally publish a detailed occupation-by-occupation breakdown after each selection. It also does not specify how the total number of invitations is divided between the individual streams.

PEI Has Yet to Select Business Applicants in 2026
Another notable feature of the province’s 2026 immigration activity is the absence of invitations under its Business Impact Category.
Unlike the previous year, PEI has so far concentrated its selections on workers rather than entrepreneurs seeking nomination through the business pathway.
This reflects the province’s current emphasis on attracting people who can directly fill workforce gaps and establish themselves economically in the local labour market.
More PEI PNP Draws Expected Before the End of 2026
Prince Edward Island has planned 12 selection rounds for 2026, broadly following a monthly pattern.
Based on the province’s published schedule, the remaining anticipated selection dates are:

- October 15, 2026
- November 19, 2026
- December 17, 2026
These dates are not guaranteed. PEI describes its schedule as informational and retains the ability to change the timing or conduct additional selections.
However, the province has generally followed its published timetable this year, with only one selection taking place on a different date from the originally announced schedule.
How Candidates Can Enter the PEI PNP Selection Pool
Foreign nationals interested in receiving an invitation must first create an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile through PEI’s immigration system.
The province assigns candidates a score and ranks them according to factors that can include:
- English or French language ability
- Educational background
- Area and location of study
- Relevant professional experience
- Skills connected to priority occupations
- Employment in Prince Edward Island
- Canadian work experience
- The candidate’s overall fit with provincial labour market requirements

What Happens After Receiving an Invitation?
Candidates who receive an invitation must submit their complete provincial nomination application within the required 30-day period.
If PEI approves the application, the candidate receives a provincial nomination. The applicant can then proceed with the federal permanent residence application through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
A provincial nomination can significantly strengthen an eligible candidate’s pathway to permanent residence, particularly for those applying through the Express Entry system.
The final decision on permanent residence remains with the federal government. Once the application is approved, the applicant receives a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) and can complete the process of becoming a permanent resident of Canada.
