Manitoba has opened another opportunity for skilled foreign workers seeking a pathway to Canadian permanent residence.
On August 27, 2026, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) issued 741 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) across several selection groups. The draw placed its strongest emphasis on workers in technical trades and transportation, while also making room for healthcare professionals, French-speaking applicants and candidates identified through strategic recruitment.
The latest results show how Manitoba is using occupation-based and targeted selections to respond to workforce requirements across the province.

August 27 Draw at a Glance
The 741 invitations were divided among four major areas:
| Selection category | Number of LAAs | Selection focus |
| Skilled Worker in Manitoba | 600 | Occupations under NOC major group 72 |
| Skilled Worker in Manitoba | 62 | Selected healthcare and transportation occupations |
| Francophone selection | 21 | Candidates with French-language ability |
| Strategic recruitment | 58 | Candidates connected to eligible recruitment initiatives |
| Total | 741 | — |
The largest group consisted of candidates whose employment matched occupations included in NOC major group 72.
600 Invitations Go to NOC Major Group 72 Workers
Manitoba directed 600 LAAs toward candidates working in occupations classified under NOC major group 72.
This major occupational group includes a broad collection of technical trades and transportation-related occupations. Rather than limiting the selection to one individual profession, Manitoba considered eligible occupations within the wider classification.
For workers employed in one of these fields, the latest draw could be particularly significant because occupation-specific selection formed the core of the August 27 invitation round.
Candidates needed to have indicated qualifying employment in their Manitoba Expression of Interest (EOI) profile.

Additional Selection for Healthcare and Transportation
Another 62 candidates received invitations through a separate occupation-focused selection.
The occupations identified for this portion of the draw were:
- Bus drivers and transit operators — NOC 73301
- General practitioners and family physicians — NOC 31102
This means Manitoba’s latest selection was not restricted to trades alone. Certain professionals in healthcare and transportation were also given priority based on the occupation information contained in their EOI profiles.
French Speakers Get 21 Invitations
Language ability remained another selection factor in the August 27 draw.
The MPNP invited 21 Francophone candidates who met the requirements for the French-language selection.
Applicants needed to show in their EOI profiles that:
- French was their language of communication with the MPNP; and
- They possessed valid results from an approved French-language test.
These candidates made up approximately 2.8% of all LAAs issued in the draw.
Manitoba’s inclusion of a Francophone selection provides another route for eligible French-speaking workers to be considered within the provincial immigration system.

Strategic Recruitment Adds 58 More Candidates
Manitoba also selected 58 candidates through strategic recruitment activities.
This group included skilled workers located both inside and outside Manitoba who had been identified through specific recruitment initiatives.
The distribution was:
| Recruitment initiative | LAAs issued |
| Employer Services | 28 |
| Francophone Community | 16 |
| Regional Community | 7 |
| Ethnocultural Community | 4 |
| Temporary Public Policy for Prospective Provincial Nominee Candidates | 3 |
| Total | 58 |
Employer Services produced the highest number of invitations in this category, with 28 LAAs.
The Francophone Community initiative followed with 16 invitations, while regional and ethnocultural recruitment accounted for smaller portions of the selection.
Express Entry Applicants Were Also Part of the Selection
Manitoba’s provincial process also connected with Canada’s federal Express Entry system during this draw.
Among the 741 invited candidates, 150 had entered a valid Express Entry profile number and job seeker validation code in their Manitoba EOI profiles.
A Manitoba nomination can be particularly valuable to eligible Express Entry candidates because a provincial nomination can substantially increase their CRS score.
However, receiving an LAA or provincial nomination does not itself grant Canadian permanent residence. Applicants must continue through the required federal immigration process after obtaining a nomination.
What Manitoba’s Latest Draw Shows
The August 27 results underline the importance of targeted occupations within Manitoba’s current immigration strategy.
Technical trade and transportation workers received the largest share of invitations, while selected healthcare workers, French speakers and strategically recruited candidates were also included.
For prospective applicants, the draw demonstrates that Manitoba’s EOI system can favour candidates whose employment background aligns with the province’s current labour market priorities.
Skilled workers considering Manitoba as a destination for Canadian immigration should therefore pay close attention to occupation eligibility, language qualifications, employment information and the requirements of the relevant MPNP pathway before submitting an EOI.
