Healthcare and French-Language Candidates Also Selected

Manitoba’s latest draw was not limited to STEM occupations.

The province selected one general practitioner or family physician under its healthcare-related occupational selection. The successful candidate had to have reported current employment under NOC 31102 in their Expression of Interest profile.

A further 16 candidates were invited through the Francophone selection. Applicants in this group needed to identify French as their communication language with the MPNP and demonstrate their French ability through an approved language test.

Potential Work Permit Support After Nomination

A provincial nomination can also play a role in helping eligible candidates maintain their work authorization while moving through the permanent residence process.

After receiving a nomination, qualifying applicants may be able to request a work permit support letter from Manitoba. This can be used as part of an application for a work permit with the federal government.

There may also be circumstances in which a provincial nominee becomes eligible for a bridging open work permit after submitting their permanent residence application.

Federal temporary measures introduced in 2026 have also changed certain work permit provisions for eligible base provincial nominees. Applicants should check the requirements that apply to their individual situation before applying.

Manitoba’s 2026 Immigration Activity Continues

The September 24 selection brings Manitoba’s total number of LAAs issued during 2026 to 6,883 across 19 provincial immigration rounds, according to the MPNP’s figures.

The latest results show several different groups being considered within Manitoba’s immigration system, from technology and engineering professionals to healthcare workers, French-speaking candidates and people recruited through targeted initiatives.

For prospective applicants, the draw highlights the importance of understanding the specific Manitoba pathway they may qualify for, maintaining an accurate EOI profile and keeping language and employment information up to date.
