Canada Holds Latest Express Entry Round, Inviting 1,000 CEC Applicants

Again, Canada has released Express Entry immigration system offers, this time for applicants who have Canadian working experience exclusively.

IRCC released 1,000 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) on September 3, 2025, for applicants who had been registered in the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) stream. In this draw, applicants who received an invitation had to have at least 534 points in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). Only the applicants whose profiles had been received by August 14, 2025, at 8:28 UTC had been considered.

Position of This Draw Within Recent Trends

The most recent draw was the second for September after conducting the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw on September 2 when 249 top-scoring candidates with 772 or higher CRS scores received an invitation. Only weeks earlier, category-based offers had been issued to health services and social services applicants, which reflects Canada’s intensified focus on solving labour shortages in key areas.

This pattern reflects IRCC’s ongoing approach of alternating between program-specific draws, provincial nominations, and occupation-targeted selections to meet both national and provincial workforce needs.

Total Invitation Numbers in 2025

Express Entry for Canada in 2025 has been active with 57,069 invites already issued across several categories. Breakdown for this year’s draws helps identify the government’s major thrust areas:

  • Provincial Nominee Program (PNP): 16 draws
  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC): 9 draws
  • French-speaking candidates: 4 draws
  • Healthcare and social services: 4 draws
  • Education stream: 1 draw.

It reflects an ideological balance between welcoming individuals who have previous Canadian connections, encouraging French language proficiency, and fulfilling provincial immigration objectives.

Highlights From This Year’s Draws

September has already seen two rounds of selection, but months before saw some of the highest draws in Canadian immigration history. Examples:

  • In March 2025, more than 7,500 French-speaking candidates received an invitation in one round.
  • Healthcare and social services professionals received multiple invitations, including a large draw of 4,000 candidates in July.
  • The CEC stream has also remained consistent, with thousands invited in February, June, and July.

These patterns confirm Canada’s commitment to aligning immigration with labor market priorities, while ensuring that candidates with existing Canadian experience remain at the forefront.

What This Means for Candidates

The September 3rd CEC draw is selectively targeted at temporary foreign workers and recent graduates already residing in Canada, as it builds their strong chances of becoming permanent residents. With CRS thresholds consistently hovering in the high 500s for CEC draws, candidates with strong profiles and Canadian work experience remain highly competitive.

Outlook for Upcoming Draws

As of 2025, immigration experts forecast that the IRCC will continue to employ an admixed immigration strategy—utilizing large-scale category-based draws in addition to selective PNP and CEC rounds. This strategy ensures immigration not only assists with the growth of the population but also fills local shortages as well as shortages across the nation by occupation.

For Express Entry candidates in the pool, keeping current on the draw trends and enhancing the CRS points through strategies, including language testing and provincial nominatin would increase their selection chances radically.
